TEMPORARY STAY
Visitor & Super Visas
Your consultant ensures your travel history and ties to home are presented with the professional detail required for temporary stay applications.
Visitor visa refusals are some of the most common — and most preventable — outcomes in Canadian immigration. Officers approve applicants who present a clear, well-documented case for why they will return home after their visit. Gemstone Immigration helps you build that case methodically: travel history, employment ties, financial stability, family roots, and a credible purpose of visit, all presented to the standard IRCC officers expect.
STANDARD VALIDITY
Up to 10 years
A multiple-entry visitor visa is usually issued for the remaining validity of your passport, allowing you to travel to Canada as often as you wish during its term.
LENGTH OF EACH VISIT
Up to 6 months
While the visa allows for easy entry, each stay is typically capped at 6 months. For grandparents and parents, the Super Visa offers stays of up to 5 years at a time.
BIOMETRICS
Valid 10 years
Once collected, your fingerprints and photo remain valid for 10 years for many application types, though processing can vary based on individual country requirements.
FEDERAL PATHWAY
Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa)
Most travelers need a visitor visa to travel to Canada. Even if you are just transiting through a Canadian airport on your way to your final destination, you may still need a visa. A visitor visa (also called a temporary resident visa) is an official document that IRCC sticks in your passport. It shows that you meet the requirements needed to enter Canada as a temporary resident (either as a visitor, a student, or a worker).
Tourism & travel
Whether you're exploring the Rocky Mountains, the vibrant cities of Toronto and Vancouver, or the historic charm of Quebec City, we help ensure your application demonstrates a legitimate intent to visit and explore Canada's wonders.
Visiting family or friends
Coming to see loved ones is a common reason for travel. We provide guidance on invitation letters and supporting documentation to prove the genuine nature of your visit and your commitment to return home.
Short-term business
Attending a conference, meeting with clients, or exploring business opportunities? We assist with 'Visitor for Business' applications, ensuring your professional ties and clear itinerary are well-documented for immigration officers.
What officers look for in your application
To approve a visitor visa, an IRCC officer must be satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay. Your file should clearly demonstrate:
Strong ties to your home country — stable employment, owned property, family responsibilities
A credible, specific purpose of visit with a clear itinerary or invitation
Good health and no inadmissibility issues (criminal, medical, or otherwise)
Sufficient funds to cover your travel, accommodation, and daily expenses in Canada
Travel history showing previous compliance with visa conditions
A valid passport that will remain valid for the full duration of the intended stay.
FAMILY PATHWAY
Super Visa for Parents & Grandparents
The Super Visa is a multi-entry visa designed specifically for the parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Unlike a regular visitor visa, it allows for significantly longer stays per visit, providing a reliable pathway for families to spend extended time together in Canada without the need for frequent renewals.
MULTIPLE-ENTRY
Long stays, repeat visits
The Super Visa is usually issued for 10 years and allows eligible parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a time per entry, with the option to apply for extensions of stay for up to 2 years at a time.
MEDICAL INSURANCE REQUIRED
Private medical coverage
A key requirement for the Super Visa is proof of private medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company, valid for at least one year and providing a minimum of $100,000 in emergency coverage.

Updated as of March 31, 2026 — new income calculation
Citizenship and Immigration Canada has released the new Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) figures for Super Visa sponsors. For applications submitted after March 31, every sponsor must demonstrate a minimum 12-month gross income that meets these revised thresholds based on family unit size. The calculation now includes all dependents in both the sponsor's and the applicant's households, ensuring comprehensive financial support is available for the duration of the 5-year stay.
